When creating layers, we are interested in only a few film properties, depending on the purpose of the layer. In order to produce films with specific, desired properties, we need to control the film structure, therefore, it is important to have some knowledge about materials science. Here are presented only the properties which are more important in technology such as: uniformity, step coverage, etc. More about film properties important for applications can be found in a materials science course.
