Thermal growth differs from deposition, in the sense that there is only one gas which reacts with the substrate. If the gas is oxygen, the process is called oxidation and if the gas is nitrogen, it is named nitridation. In this tutorial, oxidation is presented and a model shows how to calculate the oxidation rate.
