  • Ground the shell of the BNC connector to chassis ground at the bulkhead or nearest ground located on the printed circuit board. Provide a low-impedance path to chassis ground for RF currents present on the shield of the coax.

  • If using an isolated BNC connector, do not bond the shell or shield of the connector to chassis ground. Isolate the base of the connector using a nonconductive bushing (insulator) or equivalent means. Be certain to provide bypass EMI capacitors and ESD protection.

  • Do not use pigtails under any condition to connect the shell or ground pin of the BNC connector to chassis ground or to any other ground in the system (unless system functionality mandates this ground connection).

  • Ensure that the thickness of the copper layers is appropriate for proper power distribution and to minimize ground bounce.
