Active filters

    • Loading current comes from the opamp, not from source
    • Gain can be > 1
    • Need power
    • Reason for using active filters ... to avoid the inductors

Inductors are

- Lossy

- Large size for low frequencies

- Usually nonlinear

- Radiate and pick up electromagnetic waves

- Quality factor depends on the physical dimensions
